I started at the Allison Gas Turbine
Division of General Motors in 1974 as a cooperative student from
General Motors Institute. (Allison Gas Turbine Division is now
Rolls-Royce Allison, not associated with General Motors. General Motors
Institute is now the Kettering Institute.)
When I graduated in
1979 I applied for a General Motors fellowship to the University of
Chicago and was lucky enough to get it. After receiving my MBA in
1981, I returned to
Allison in marketing research department, became the advertising manager in 1983, and
manager of advertising and public relations in 1988.
